In this one credit course, students will learn
and explore the principles and techniques upon which dendrochronology rests,
the biological and scientific basis for dendrochronology, and in which
disciplines it has been applied. At the end of the week, students will be
able to prepare and date tree-ring samples, determine fire years, and build a
local chronology. The exercises offer a hands-on approach to grasp
concepts in dendrochronology.
Quizzes will cover material from lectures, readings, exercises
and demonstrations. Test questions are multiple choice, short answer
and critical thinking problem solving.
